(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLING TON, Last Night. A young woman named Marion May Emmens was arrested to-day and oharged with murdering her iofant. The police stated in Court that accused, who was not well enough to appear, was a single girl 23 years old, who gave birth to a chili about a fortnight ago. The body was found in a barrel ot lime and water al a place at which accused was employed. The case was adjourned. FEILDING, Last Night. At the Feilding Court on Thursday, the Feilding S.P.C.A. laid an information against C. Tucker, of Wanganui, chargiug him with having ill-treated a pigeon by killing it in such a manner as to subject it to unnecessary pain and suffering. The case arose out of a recent pigeon match. A boy named Donald Beach, aged 12 years, fell from a pine tree on Saturday, while gathering cones at Eichmond. A branch broke, precipitating the boy 40 feet. Up to one o'clock to-day the police had discovered no trace of Lionel Terry. NAPJEK, This Day. The Tarawera Hotel, on the Taupo line, was totally destroyed by fire on Sunday night. Everything was lost. The building was insured for 4975 in the North Queensland office and 4225 in the Sun office.
