AUSTRALIAN COAL WAR.
NEWCASTLE, September 12. The committee of Management of Che Miners 1 Jiederatioa discussed the Maitknd trouble, and also the Newcastle miners' demand for an increase iu hewing rate, and resolved that in the event of no satisfactory settlement of the dog-watch dispute, "and failing a deiiuiie promise of an iucrease of Sd per ton in the hewing rate, to date from January Ist uexf, being obtained before Saturday, au aggregate meeting of miners will be held ou Monday next to advocate the cessation of work at the bore hole and upper seams, ihis practically means all the miues, both at Maitlaud and Newcastle. It was also decided to ask for a conference with owners on Saturday' Iu the meantime, the resolution will be submitted to the miners' lodges for endorsement.
The owners meat in Sydney tomorrow to discuss the situation. It is understood that they are determined to resist the detuaud.
