♦ NEWMARKET STOCK SALE. (By Telegraph— Special to Waikato Times.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Newmarket yesterday, ox benf sold to 24? ■ cow, 17s to 20s per lOOlbs; fat steers, 75s to £ll 15s ; cows, £4 5s to £8 17a fid; calves, 15s to 28". Sheep.-Fat wethers brought 20s to 265; ewes, 17s 9d to 25s 3d; hoggets, 12s 6d to 19s. Pigs.—Porkers, 17s 6i to 345 ; baconers, •158 to 58s; weaners 6s 6d to 16s. OIIAUPO STOCK SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report that at Ohaupo yesterday they yarded a large muster of cattle of all classes and hid a successful sale. Strong yearlings and 2-year-old steers were eagerly competed for and every pen sold at satisfactory prices. A large number of dairy cows and heifers were offered and all of good quality and close to pri fit sold readily at late prices and are still enquired for; 3£-year-old steers in good condition made £6 15s with mure enquiries ; 2i year steers in rather poor condition made £3 7s 6d to £3 17s 6d. These were off a long drive. Strong calves made XL 133 to £2 2s; younger and weaker sorts XI Is to XI 6s'; heifers of 18-months made £2 lis to £2 17s 6d. The same class, but showing much less condition only made up to £2 8s; fat cows, £5 10s. No steers offered. Dairy cows male from £7 to £8 15s for a really nice cow. Good heifers made up to £7 5s ; a good number sold at from £5 5s to £6 2s 6d. All through the sale was of a fairly spirited nature the only class at all neglected were the two 2i-year steers which were hardly in condition. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. WELLINGTON, Monday. The High Commissioner cables : The mutton market is quiet, but steady. Canterbury brands are quoted at 3£d ; North Island, 3£d. River Plate mutton is selling at 3Jd. There is a better tone in the lamb market. Canterbury brands are quoted at 4£d ; other than Canterbury, 4sd. The beef market is firm at and 2£d for hind and fore quarters respectively. Choice New Zaaland butter is selling at 114s and Danish at 122* per owt. The cheese market is a little quieter at the same quotations as last week.

Good business in baing done in hemp at higher prices. G.f a.g. Wellington on spjt is quoted at £34 10s per ton. The same quotation rules for October and December shipments. The stock on hand is 624 tons. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since last week

New Zealand longbarried wheat on spot is quoted at 30s 6dper 4961b ; shortbarried, 30s. These prices are nominal. New Zealand sparrowbill oats, ex granary, per quarter of 3841b, are quoted at 255; Danish, per 3201b, 19s 6d; steady market.

New Zealand beans, f.a.g, old crop, per 5041b, ate quiet at 34s 6d.

New Zealand partridge peas are quoted up to 453 per 5041b; blue, 30s to 40 i; quiet market.

The arrivals of mutton from Eiyer Plate during August were as follows: London, 140,209 carcase*; Liverpoj], 126,121 carcases; Hull, 1811 carcases; Newcastle, 11,06b carcases; Southampton, 1019 carcases; Plymouth, ?003 circases; total, 286,158 carcases.
