CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.

The above Board met.on Saturday, when there were present Messrs John Ferguson (chairman), W r . F. Buckland and E. N. Souter. Snow Ground.—The Chairman reported that he had. as authorised, had a number of willow trees planted on the ground to replace some that had died 5 that Lawsonias had been planted to hide the latrines, and the same had been fenced round, and pickets inserted by which admission could be obtained when the ground was in use by the public, and at other times they would be locked.—The chairman further Btated that the eleagnus fence on the south and western sides of the show ground was being destroyed by the cattle eating it, and he suggebted that wire netting should be put upon the fence to prevent the injury. It was decided to erect netting of a suitable character. Cutting Trees in the Lake The Cnairman said the railway authorities wanted a row of macrocarpa rress that grew alongside the railway fence near the station, felling, at they kept the sun from drying the road to the goods shed. This matter was also left in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Souter to with —lt was reported that a number of pine trees had been ringed to kill them, but it was in a portion of the reserve where thoy c uld nut be seen.

Swans kor the Lake—The Chairman stated that Mr 'd. Rowlands, of irankton, had presented the Board with a white female swan.—lt was decided to send fortnwith and endeavour to get a male bird.—On the motion of Mr Buckland, seconded by Mr Souther, it was decided to write to Mr Rowlands thinking him for his handsome present, and conveying to him the Board's hearty appreciation of his kindness in bringing the bird to Cambridge and liberating it in such good order. Rubbish Tip.—Attention was called to the fact that rubbish was being shot on Domain lands, near Salthurst, where it was most unsightly. The carters of the town were also abusing the rubbish tip provided at the old gravel pit on the Thornton ro»d by not s'n, oting4he refuse over the brow of the bank It wa3 decided to close the rubbish tip forthwith, and anyone discharging any refuse on Domain lauds will be proceeded against. —The Chairman and Mr Souter were asked to find another suitable place for town refuse. Grazing. Mr Robertson relinquished the grazim; over the lower portion of the Lake Reserve on the Ist inst; and Mr Jamea Rivers, cardtaker of the Domain, wruw» ottering M per annum for it, on gimilar ternn to those gractcd to Mr Robertson.—lt was decided to call teudeis, but not to advertise them, and the Chairman and Mr Souter will deal With them. Cutting the Grass.— Mr F. O'J'oole's offer to cut and Keep the grass in the Domain, to the satisfaction of the Board, from the Ist cf October to the 31st March next, for the sum of j£36 was accepted. Lbavb of Absence— Dr. Roberts' leave absence was extended for another throe ufonths, by which tune lie wiil probably have arrived back frum the Old Country.— Mr Buckland was granted leave of absence for four months, as he intended taking an I extended holiday. Wild Fowl—An offer by Mr W. F Buckland to bring back with him ornamental ducks and wild fowl was accepted with thanks.
