Mr J. W. Walker, who went to London last year with a view to floating his Waihi properties, has decided to return to Auckland, and will sail by the Tonganro next Friday. Mr Herdman Brown, one of Auckland's oldest merchants, and pioneer of the firm of Brown, Barrett and Co., returned to Auckland by the Victorh on Sunday, after an absence of some 16 years, the greater part of which time he has spent in Germany. Mr Brown will remain in Auckland between two or three months before returnicg to Europe, via South Africa. Mr T. Ward has resigned his seat on the Surveyors' Board and will be succeeded by Mr P. E. Cheal, of Auckland. This is the first occasion on which the Auckland district has boon represented on the Board.
