AUCKLAND FARMERS' FREEZING COMPANY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —[n your columns of yesterday appears a letter from Mr J. C. Allen, from which I take the following:—"lt is quite true that Mr Barugh telegraphed to me asking me to come to the meeting; but his telegram did not arrive in Auckland till between 9 and 10 o'clock on Thursday morning, or an hour before the meeting was hold in Hamilton. Had Mr Barugh's telegram arrived earlier, 1 would certainly have attended the meeting. . . . Had he really wished me to be present at the meeting at Hamilton, he ought to have communicated with me before Thursday morning." Mr Allen was notified of the meeting in the same manner as all the other directors, and Ido not remember him ever missing a meeting befure. I went into Hamilton to meet the directors on WednesJay, the day before the meeting. Our secretary handed me a letter from Mr Allen, stating that he could not attend because he h«d a meeting on in Auckland on Wednesday afternoon. I immediately sent him a telegram stating that a train left Auckland at midnight on which Captain Worsp intended to travel in order to be present at the meeting. This telegram was sent as an early one, and on inquiry at the Hamilton post ollice, I find it was despatched at about 2.30 p.m on Wednesday. It will thus appear from Mr Alien's letter that, though it left Hamilton on Wednesday afternoon, it did not arrive in Auckland till after 9 a.m. oa the following day. I can only express my regret that such delay should have occurred, and assure Mr Allen that I was much disappointed at his absence.—l am, etc., JOSEPH BARUGH.
