KIHIKIHI.

Creamery.—The milk supply to the local creamery has kept up wonderfully, considering the long dry spell of weather; the average daily supply exceeding, 1 believe 800 gallons. The suppliers are at, present very much agitated concerning a somewhat sudden drop in the average per centage of cream during this week ; the manager's tests showing in some cases a fall from eleven per cent, to 7 per cent., ai similar experience to that of some of the Patcrangi suppliers, as mentioned in the last issue .of,, the .Times. As one would in the ordinary cause of events, expect the milk to be richer rather than poorer in butterfat during the continued dry weather, it does seem as though there were a mis* take somewhere, and an inquiry into the matter is evidently necessary. Land Court—ln all probability the .Native Lands Court now sitting at Otorohanga) will be adjourned to Kihikihi concerning blocks in;the vicnity. Business'generally jusit now very dull and the Land Court will be very welcome, to give a little stimulus to trade.

School Meeting.—The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Wednesday night, last, there being a very good attendance. Mr Chapman (our head teacher), put in an attendance, prior to the ordinary business of the meeting and was heartily welcomed and congratulated by all the members on his own and his wife's' providential escape from probable death through having decided at a late hour not to take passage by the Wairarapa, Mention was made of a correspondence; between the chairman, and Mr Rice secretary to the Board, also Mr Qhapman relative to his absence from ; school duties, some particulars of which appeared in the Herald's report of the Board's meeting, but the matter was allowed to drop. Accounts amounting to about £5 were passed for payment, and other general business doue. The Inspector's report re the standard examinations was read and received, being highly satisfactory as regards the work done, and the tone and discipline of the school. It was resolved to apply to the Auckland Board for the necessary material for the erection of a good roomy shelter shed in the school grounds; the committee promising to be at the expense of erecting tame. Band of Hope.—The usual gathering of the Kihikihi branch of the Band of Hope took place 011 Wednesday night la3t, in the Presbyterian Church, there being a very good attendance, The following programme was most efficiently rendered,! and was much appreciated by those present;— Address by the liev. j. Macdonald; " The Temperance Sketch Book," with illustration!) by magic lantern, readings at intervals, by Messrs Roach, Gordon and: Holloway; • song 1 , " Please Give Me a Penny," Miss Nellie Dinneen; reading, "The Fairy Band," Mr Culver; song, '' Rock of Ages," Miss C. Broadfoot; recitation, "Beautiful Snow," Miss L. Dinneen; recitation, .''The Gin Fiend," Mr S, Holloway; song, " Father Dear Father," Miss B. Broadfoot. Mrs Broadfoot very kindly officiated at the organ and several hymns were also sung by the meeting at intervals during the evening, Most of the songs and recitations, etc., were illustrated by the magic lantern kindly lent and manipulated by Mr Culver. The usual collection was made and the children and their friends went home in good time, thoroughly pleased with a profitably and enjoyably spent evening. .
