ENGLISH RAMS FOR AMERICA.
The Mark Lane Express, noticing the foreign demand for English rams, says:- " This has of late years been large and increasing, and .the mutton-producing interests are so rapidly extending themselves in Australasia, the Argentine Re* public, the United States, and in South Africa to feed the cold storage mutton supply that' the foreign and colonial demand for British pedigree rams may be expected to increase for many years to come, and the development of the mutton industry on the Continent has also caused a good deal of buying for the export of rams to France and Germany." With reference to the new markets available by means of the Manchester Ship Canal it remarks:—"lf the authorities there imagine that Manchester and other great towns of Great Britain are innocent of frozen mutton up to the present moment they labour under a'very great delusion. Nevertheless, thickly populated districts still ■ offer a field for the sale of cheap and wholesome food." English Lincoln breeders have exported this year a large number of valuable sheep to Argentina.
