THE WAR IN COREA.
(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRArH.-COPYMGHT). Shanghai, October 22. The Chinese have landed further munitions of war at Takti, on the western shore of Pe-Chili.
They have also decided to make New Chang, at the head of the Luingtung Gulf, the base of their operations, should the Japanese attempt to advance on Pekin by crossing the Yalu river.
Japan claims the right to garrison Corea until the reforms are effected, and demands territorial security from China until an in lemnity is paid. China asks for the independence of Corea, It is reported in Shanghai that negotiations have been re-opened, and that probably peace will be- restored. October 23. A French warship fired on the British.steamer Tayuen, in China waters, compelling her to display her flag. There are eighteen hundred wounded Japanese, at Chemueks, and many' at Seoul, besides which over two theusand were forwarded to Japan.
