M i-Calder, R.iol chaplain, a writton statement which Mr Calder is stilted to have declined to receive, and a'lvised Scott to hand it in thu gml authorities direct, in consequence of the serious allegations contained therein, Scott continue* to protest his innocence, and alleges tli.t Thompson inadvertently poisoned himself by strychnine in a vial which lie suppmed contained quinine. Wlwtevor Scott's explanation of the tracedy may be, very little importance is likely tu ho attached to it, is the Star.s.tys Scott has been proved to be :i hab.tual liar as well as a murderer,
