WAIKATO CLYDESDALES.

Wk are glad to learn that the grand stal) linns that wera selected and bought by the Into Mr J, McNicol, and placed at tho set vice of the breeders of horses in Waikato, aro not leaving the district, having boon bought by a local unci enterprising gentleman, and will remain at Lnchiel stables under tho chargo of the «ime wellknown groom employed by the late owner of tho horses. General Fleming is wellknown and greatly famed in the district, and wants little comment from us, having on Iwoocosi Din tlio 8 ow ring he den tho highest priced colonial bred stallion ever bred in Now Zealand, and his value as a stock-getter has been pretty well proved by tho price which his first year's gets, now foals, sold for at the w'e held at Lochiol on Wednesday last. Ono seven months old filly bringing!}!!), and ono cult, six months, £lB 10s, which is, wo believe, the highest prico ever paid for draught foals in Waikato, Tho last importation, Royal Conqueror, is a two-year-old colt, bred by Mr Thus. Mee, of Maheno, near Oamarn, the famed hone-breeding district, and was purchased at a big figure, He is a really magnificent and massive colt, with immense bone and substance, with a very gentle temper, and aood action. On being paraded and inspected along with his older stablo companion, General Fleming, be was pronounced by a great many of our recngnissd judges to be one of the best, if not tho very best colt nvor brought to Waikato, and thoy predict a great future fnr him, and think it quito likely that his stablo mate will have to take second place, if tlipy meet in the show ring. H\vir,g brought so grand a colt to the district is another honour to the name of the friend and follow sottler lately taken from amongst us, who did such service to the \\ aikato in introducing good stallions into the district to improve the breßd of horses. We wish tho new owner every success, and hope that hnrso-breeders will give him sufficient inducement to keep such valuable stallions in the district.
