S. ANDREW'S, CAMBRIDGE.
Thh vestrymen of the above Church have been fully aware for a considerable time that the roof of the Parsonage had run its course and now refused to keep out the rain ; they were also aware that the population of the Manse had increased to an extent that necessitated the enlarging of the building. A meeting of the vestrymen was held at which tho matter was discussed, and it was eventually decided to recommend that the house be re-roofed, the dining-room enlarged, and two new rooms be added, Mr Wilson, of Auckland, the architect who designed Mrs Thornton's mansion at Maungakawa, prepared plane of the proposed alterations, which were submitted to a meeting of the parishioners of Cambridge, Tamahore and Ohs-upo, held in S. Andrew's schoolroom on Monday evening. The Archdeacon presided and everything passed off most satisfactorily. The recommendation of the vestry was unanimously approved, and they were authorised to proceed with the work. It was stated that Mrs Thos. Welb had collected nearly t'oO for the object, and the meeting requested tho Tamahere and Ohaupo residents to contribute £20 and £10 respectively. Mr Wheeler, one of the Tainahere churchwardens, was present, and promised to lay tho matter before his people and recommend compliance with tho request, Mr Thos. Wells said Mr Lake, who unfortunately was unable to bo present, would do his best to raise £10 in Ohaupo, but would guarantee £0. It was resolved to hold a email bazaar in the Cambridge Public Hall on Boxing-day, with a number of side shows and a promenade concert in thee\ening. A gift auction will also be held, so the farmers may expect to be visited by fair canvassers. On New Years' Night » grand concert will probably be given, at which many leading star artistes of Auckland will assist; should, however, this night prove inconvenient f«r '* the stars," it will be altered. Mr Thos. Wells was appointed manager of tho bazaar and concert, and we learn that Mr E. Hewitt has undertaken to dispose of the tickets for the concert; so, judging by his former efforts, the hall will doubties-s be crowded. The funds accruing from theso entertainments will be devoted to paying for repairs to the parsonage, and the surplus to defraying intorest on the church debt. The thanks of tho parishioners are due to Mrs Wells for voluntarily taking tho matter up and collecting such a substantial amount as £50 is for this very deserving object. Tho bazaar is intended to take the place of the annual garden fete.
