Loxdox, September 22. Three hundred tobacco hands at Victoria Docks have refused to work unless a comrade who refused to pay more than a shilling a week to the Australian fund is discharged. The combined trades unions of the Bristol Channel ports have issued it manifesto refusing to work with foreigners or non-unionists. At a meeting of the principal coal firms of London and the provinces it was resolved to employ only restricted labour. By an explosion at the Elswick Works on board the Australian cruiser Pandora, twelve men were fearfully scalded. Messrs Dillon and O'Brien have been makiug defiant speeches at Tipperary. Lord Spencer, speaking at Wakefield, condemned the receut arrests of Irish members, which, he contended, proved that Mr Balfour's methods had been a failure. Mr O'Brien has brought forward a motion in Parliament for the investigation of the charge aguinst Daly, now undergoing sentence of imprisonment for conspiracy. Mr Parnell intends to convcne a conference of the Irish party at Dublin. Nearly all the chemical firms have joined the union. A prospectus has been issued, fixing the capital at eight and a-lialf millions. Opposition to the Anglo - Portuguese Convention is gaining ground in Portugal. Paris, September 25. The Coiute de Paris admits he intrigued with General Boulanger for the restoration of the monarchy. He states lie is not ashamed of the part he played, and sought to utilise Boulanger to divide the Republic. Sua kim, September 24. Natives are being expelled from Suakim, and grain is not allowed to go into the interior. The cause is the fear of raid by Osman Digna. Note.—lt was Osvnan Pasha, defender of Plevna, and not Osman Digna, who was reported to have been drowned. New Yoiik, September 25. News Las been received from Central America that the town of Colon, on the Isthmus of Panama, has been almost totally destroyed by fire. Washington - , Septembes 24, Miss Agnes Robertson (Dion Boucicault's first wife) will oppose the granting of letters of administration to Mrs Boucicault (Miss Thorndykc). A motion has been tabled in the Senate calling fur better treatment of American political prisoners in Eng* land.
