Ox tho motion for the adjournment of the House the labour dispute was again discussed. Several discreditable scenes occurred, and the debate resolved itself into a series of personalities. Sir Henry Parkes denied the statement of the London Star, that he was a Chartist and trades unionist. The Employers' Union have replied to the Labour Conference, asking whether the latter are aware that the United Trades Council arc negotiating at Melbourne for a conference, and if so, whether they still desire an nuswer to their request for a conference vith tho Sydney employers. The trolly and draymen have relaxed boycotting to the extent of permitting parcel delivery men to return to work. Tho Labour Conference has written to the Employers' Association making one more effort to obtain a conference, and intimate that if it is not granted within a day or so the conference will disperse.
The stage hands of the Sydney and Melbourne theatres have formed a union, and affiliated with the Trades Hall.' September 2G. The Labour Conference have sent a further communication to the employers, stating that their representatives' position entitles them to act on behalf of the unions who are most anxious to see a settlement of the present difficulty. The proprietors of one of the largest stations in the colony have laid informations against forty-five of their hands for leaving before their agreement was completed. Mkliioukxe, September 20. The Legislative Council have passed a resolution expressing the opinion that there is urgent necessity for tho speedy settlement of the labour dispute. A conference of the owners and miners connected with the Broken Hill silver industry have arrived at a satisfactory settlement of their difficulty. Courts of arbitration are to bo established to control future disputes, and work is to be resumed in the mine as rapidly as circumstances vvill admit. Auei.AHjk, September 25. All the stevedores at Port Adelaide have ceased work, and this has had the effect of blocking all vessels. Suptember 20. The strike of stevedores has not had the ell'ect of blocking all shipping, and several vessels are now loading auu unloading by means of free labour.
