LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. ' FRIDAY. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. Mr Reeves presented a petition from the manufacturers, shopkeepers and employers of labour in Christchurch against the Factories and Shops Bills. The Live Stock Committee recommended that the Cattle Bill bo allowed to proceed. On the motion for going into committee on the Bible-reading in Schools Bill, Mr Buckley moved that they go into committee that day six months. After the discussion Mr Buckley s motion was lost on the casting vote of the Speaker, the voting being 13 to 13. The motion for going into committee was lost on the voices, thus killing the Bill. The Council, at 4.50 p.m., adjourned till Tuesday. _______
