Mr Stout openrtl the b.ill with Miss E. K.irrell. Dancing co'innenml :>t tl a.m., and was kept up till 4 a.m. The room was coinfoital>ly tilled fm dancing, .ibout forty couple-, being pu'-.ent. Many ladies and gentlt men fiom a diitanco weie pit-sent, .md all enjoyed themselveh Uioioughlv, the b.ill being in all lespect-. a lepresentaXivc one. Standing on the ht.igo and looking down the lull, the ncene w.w pietty in the extreme, the g,\y costumes of the Indies and the flonldecoiationn allowing to advantage fiom this point of obsen ation. The music, of course, wns excellent ; it was supplied by Mr Siblry's band. Mr Thomas deserves a word of praise for the leally excellent supper he provided, but his abilities in that dnuction are too veil and favoinahly known to icquire much comment fiom mo. — (Own Coiicspondent).
