WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Waipa County Council held a Special Meeting 1 on Tuesday last to make arrangements for the various ferries of t^e County. Councillors present wereCrs, Buttle (chairman), Hadfield, Steele, Wainwright and Corboy. The following resolutions were passed: — Cr. Steele proposed Cr. Corboy seconded— That considering the expense made necessary by the bad state of the Hamilton punt, it is not desirable to remove the same to VVhatawhata. Carried unanimously. The Clerk was directed to write to the Minister of Public works and ask permission to sell the Hamilton punt it being not worch repairing. Cr. Steele proposed Cr. Wainwright seconded — That Councillors Corboy and Hadfield be appointed a committee on behalf of this Council to purchase new wire rope and material for repairing- the Whatawhata punt, and call for tenders, and let the working of the feny for a period of twelve months ending 31st March, 1881. Carried unanimously. Cr. Steele proposed and Cr. Wainwright seconded — That the Clerk write to the Waikato County Council, asking 1 their co-operation and advice in the matter of establishing a ferry at Pukete, in compliance with a repuUition from the Pukete School Committee. C irried uuanimously. Thisooncluded the business of the special meeting.
