MEETING OF DELEGATES OF THE WAIKATO AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the delegates appointed by the settlers of Cambridge, Alexandra, Te Awamutu, and Hamilton, to arrange preliminaries for holding- the Cattle Show for (1876, took place at Ohaupo on Monday last. Eleven o.clock, was the hour fixed f>r the meeting, hnt it was after twelve before all who could attend were assembled. The following- gentlemen were present as delegates : — From Hamilton — Messrs Cox, junr, Whyte, Hammond and Morris ; from Cambridge — Mesars Fisher, IButtle, Runciman, Hicks and Parker; from Alexandra — Mr Tisdall ; from Te Awamata — Messrs Grubbins, Sherrett, C J Storey, and Msmdeno. An apology was read from Mr Seddon who was absent from ill-health. Major Jackson was voted to the chafr, and stated <the object for which the delegates had met together, viz : to decide where aud when the show of 1876 should be held. Mr Mandeno read come extracts from the minutes oi the Jast meeting of the Central Waikato Agricultural Association, shewing that it had been agreed by them to hold the next show in the spring of 1876. Capt Runciman gave a detailed aocount of what had been decided by the Cambridge Club, which was decidedly in favor of holding a central show. There the settlers were averse to supporting any local show, but would do all in their power to aid one of a general char-ac-tor. The speaker believed that a number of gentlemen in Auckland had mooted the subject of 'farming an Association for the whole .province ; but as no notification of this had been sent to them, they could not deal with that question. He would move the following resolution :: — '* That it is desirable to form one Agricultural Association for the Waikato" He did not agree with the holding of Rtuall looal shows. The motion was seconded by Mr Gubbins and carried. Mr Tisdwll proposed that Ohanpo be the sire for the first show. Mr Sherrett seconded the resolution. Mr Hammond was of opinion that the motion involved doubts as to where future shows would be h*»ld. Some discussion arose as to the necessity of appointing officers, but it was ultimately agreed that the election of officers should be considered at a public meeting to be held at a fature day. Mr Morris proposed, and Mr Gabbins seconded, that the subscription of membership be cue gninea. Capt Kunciman was of opinion that the amount should be double, It -vould safe a raefc amount of begging for funds and mate them far more independent. The prizes as far as possible should be paid cut of the funds of> the Association. He would more as an amendment, that two guineasbe the amount to entitle persons to membership. Mr Hammond seconded the amendment. The matter was discussed at some length, and it was finally agreed to make the ft* of membership one guinea. Captßuuciman proposed the following gentlemen as a Committee to deair *p imles for the Association : — Messrs Mandeno, Storey, Whyte, Ham mend, Hides, and <?he mover ; five to form a quorum. Seconded by Mr Buttle and carried. The names of Messrs Gubbins and TisdaU &s representatives fcr Alexandra weresubseqaently added to the A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the busi-' j ness of the meeting. A meeting of the committee was afterwards held, -Capt Kunciman in the chair. It was resolved that the name of t"he Association should be " The Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association.'* JMr Mandeno was appointed secretary pro tern and instructed to call a meeting jof the Committee to be held at Ohaupo one day during the second week of March ne*t. The secretary was farther instructed to wxite to trhe various Agricultural Associations throughout the vColony for a copy of their rules. It was agreed that subscription lists should be at once opened and a viyorous<janvassfor members made. The meeting then closed.
