Hokilika, Friday The Alhambra lias {arrived from Melbourne — Captain McKan, late of the Aiding, has undergone amputation of the leg ; ho is dead this morning.

Canterbury, is arrauged to be plnyed on the 12th January. — The Gaardian states that if Wellington continues to be the seat of Government that it will be made federal territory, with Waugnuui the seat of Provincial Government ; by this means will be got rid of tho pressure on Colonial Exeeut ives by Provinciul authorities, otherwise, the disruption of the colony it thinks inevitable.— The distribution of prizes gamed in the High School will take place to-morrow. — A verdict of inaiiil/tughter has been returned against Honor Brad-jhaw, who ovrrluul her infant whilst under tho influence of drink.— Building Societies are becoming very popular.
