A stormy debate in the Assembly to-day on the petitions presented in favour of dissolution. Gambetta declared it was the deesire of the country there should be a dissolution, and when the feeling became universal, as asserted, their position would bo invincible. After a long and animated discussion, tho Assembly decided to set aside the petitions for a dissolution. The majority was 420 against 201 by passing to the orders of the day. The Petitions for a dissolution of the Assembly are beginning to assume great proportions at Paris aud in the provinces. The manifestos issued from tho Left are extremely moderate in tone. They bear the signatures of Gambetta. Louis Blanc, Cremieux. These demand a pacific dissolution, as a means of averting danger. They strongly disapprove of the pressure brought to bear by the enemies of order. They express themselves desirous to support Thiers, as a means of establishing. Republican Institutions. The Right petition the Assembly to remain inviolably firm against any measures whieh would tend to attack universal sufi'rage. Deeember 12. The Assembly have agreed to discuss the petition for a dissolution on Saturday. Thiers disclaims leaning towards the Right. December 13. Expected a' Ministerial quarters, at Paris, that the Government will oppose the petitions for a dissolution:of the Assembly, as inopportune and unnecessarily agitating the country. December 14.
