LONDON INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITON, 1873

Thk following not ification is published in a recent General Government Gazette, Colonial Secretary s Omee, Wellington, 16th November, 1572. The third of the series of Annual International Exhibitions of selected Works of Fine Art (including music), industrial art, and recent scientific inventions and discoveries, under the direction of lI.M. Commissioner* for the Exhibition of ISSI, will be opened.at South Kensington, London, in April, 1873. ~ . . , v . • The Exhibition, will consist of three divivions .Division 1. Fine arts. Division 2. Manufactures. Division 3. lvecent scicntilie inventions and new discoveries of all kinds. The productions of all nations will be admitted, subject to the decision of competent judges as to t heir being worthy of exhibition, and provided they have not been exhibited ill the previous International Exhibitions ol the series. Application to exhibit objects should be forwarded to the Secretary of the London International Exhibition, Upper Kensington Gore, London, S.W., before 31st January, 18/3, on printed forms, which can be obtained on application to the Under Secretary, Wellington. The present arrangements for exhibiting Manufactures in each of the seven exhibitions to follow that of 1873 are as follows, and any modifications will bo duly announced 1874.

Lace, hand and machine made; civil engineering, and building construction: (a.) civil engineering, and binding constructions; (b.) sanitary apparatus, and construction; (c.) cement and plaster work, &c. Leather, including saddlery and harness: (a.) leather, and manufacture oi leather; (b.) saddlery, harness. Bookbinding oi all kinds; artificial illumination by all methods, gas and its manufacture ; machinery in general for the group ; raw materials used for all the above-mentioned objects. 1875. Woven, spun, felted, and laid fabrics—when Bhown as specimens of printing or dyeing; horologieal instruments ; brass and copper manufactures ; hydraulics and experiments —supply of water ; machinery in general for the group; raw materials used for all the above-mentioned objects. 187G - Works in precious metals and their imitations ; photographic apparatus and photography; skins, iurs, feathers, and hair ; agricultural machinery and results ; philosophical instruments, and processes depending upon their uso ; uses of electricity ; machinery in general for the group ; raw materials used for all the above-motioned objects. 1877Furnituro and upholstery, including paper hangings and papier-mache :— (a.) Furniture and upholstery ; {!>.) paper hangings and general decorations. Health, manufactures, &c. "promoting health, with experiments ; machinery in general for the group ; raw materials used for all the abovemention el objects. 1878. Tapestry, embroidery and needlework. Glass: (a.) stained glass used in buildings ; (b.) glass for household purposes. Military engineering: armour and accoutrements, ambulance and small arms ; (a.) clothing and accoutrements ; (b.) tci'.t , camp equipages, and military engineering ; (c.) arms, oi'vlminee, and ammunition. Naval Arehitcture— Ships' Tackle : (a.) Ships for purposes of war and commerce ; (J.j boats, barges, and vessels for commerce, amusements, &c. ; (c.) ships' tackle and rigging ; additional; (cl.) clothing, for the navy ; heating and combustion, with experiments; machinery in general for the group ; raw materials used lor all the above-mentioned objects. 1879. Matting of all kinds, straw manufactures ; flax and hemp ; iron and general hardware ; (a.) iron manufactures ; (h.) tin, lead, zinc, pewter, and general brazing ; dressing cases, travelling cases, &c.; horticultural machinery and products; uses of magnetism ; machinery in general for the Group; raw materials used for all the above-mentioned objects. 1880. Chemical substances and products, and experiments, pharmaceutical processes : (a.) chemical products ; (b.) medical and pharmaceutical products and processes; (c.) oils, fats, wax. Articles of clothing : (a.) hats and caps ; (6.) bonnets and general millinery ; (c.) hosiery, gloves, and clothing in general; (d.) boots and shoes. ]lail»vay plant, including locomotive engines and carriages : machinery in general for the group.
