A " buclcjumping" match came off at Newton Boyd crossing, near Mr. T. Jordan's on Tuesday, Ist August- The riders were J, Chisholm, butcher, at Dalmorton, and W, Rhodes, ab Curraldooral. Each of the riders was to find a buckjumper for the other. The prize was £20 paid down by the riders. Each of the riders found a notorious buckjumper for the other, and on the day named the match was ridden in the presence of several hundred people. Both horses were with great difficulty saddled, and Obisholm's backed himself over the fence of the saddling yard. Both the men are famed as riders, and after each had the horse a little quiet they were into the saddles like lightning, and the bucking was a caution, Rearing and striking with the fore legs, and striking out with the hind ones, made the spot clear, Chisholm stuck fcv his seat immovable. Rhodes rose and fell with the motions of his horse, Both used the whip and spur to make the horses do their worst, At last the beasts were exhausted, and the riders held their seats, The wager was drawn, Chisliolm's horse was supposed to be the most savage of the two when the match commenced, but at the conclusion he was thoroughly tamed, and his master handled him about amidst the cheers of the crowd,— " Grafton Observer. n
