"Wellingten, Monday. A meeting of the- Superintendents' and Provincial officers who hold seats, in the Assembly has been held. All the Superintendents were present except Mr Ormond. A was drawn up and submitted to the Government with an, intimation, that it wilt be insisted uporu The-chief feature of this demand is that the Superintendents of the various provinces shall'be- appointed General Government Agents to carry on public works- under the powers of delegation provided by the Public Works Act, and that the office of Kesident Minister for the Middle Island shall be abolished. The Ministry, it is believed, will not accept the.se terms, or consent to entrust the delegated powers to all Superintendents, although they are willing to retain a discretionary power to do so wlien they deem it advisable*. The Cabinet is now considering its reply. If the Provincial' party insist and defeat the Ministry, probably the latter will ask for a dissolution.. . .. Tuesday.
