♦ AUCKLAND. July 24. At;the Police Court to-day the charge was brought against Captain Harding', of the Nebraska, of having committed a breach of the quarantine regulations and giving a false and evasive answer relative to the health of the ship; and a further summons was issued for not hoisting the Health Officer's flag during the month of May. The defendant not appearing the case was adjourned till the 7th August. Mark Sheehy, mine manager of the Green Harp, has been charged with stealing specimens. The case is proceeding. The evidence so far is moat damaging. Caledonians, .£2B ; Moanatairi, £6 ss. 6 f> p.m. Splendid specimens have been taken out of the Caledonian ; shares advancing—now quoted at 371. The Evening Star has published a letter from a passenger by the complaining bitterly of Webb's line and of the treatment received at Honolulu. Sheehy baa been committed for trial. The natives at Taurauga are alarmed about smallpox, and are flocking to be vaccinated. NAPIER. 4th July. Immense gatherings of natives at Ropata's meetiugs. The Ngatiporous will shortly celebrate the peace on the East Coast. Two thousand natives are expected to be present. WELLINGTON. The Nebraska on arrival at Wellington to-day was placed in quarantine. WESTPORT. Great floods have taken place. The people are removing from the diggings.
