INQUEST.

Ax inquest was held at Cambridge, oil Saturday, July 6, upon the body of Arthur 11. Lawrence, aged seventen months, before B. C. Beale, Lsq., District Coroner. Eugina Lawrence, mother of the deceased, sworn, deposed : On Saturday, June 29, after having been to the store for some goods I put the basket upon the tabic and went out to chop some wood. When T returned I found the deceased on the table, unto which he had climbed by the aid of a box, and had taken a box of lucifer matches out of the basket and sucked some. Found the matches which he had been sucking wi th the heads'off. Did not think tiiey had hurt him. Seemed wel! all that day; and. ate his meals and slept the same as usual. About 11 a.m. on Sunday, deceased commenced to scream and seemed convulsed. Sent my husband to fetch the doctor. Mr. Cunningham arrived and proscribed, and also administered some medicine. I deceased got better up to 8 or 9 p.m., when he grew suddenly worse ;at midnight rallied and slept well. Next evening between 8 and 9 p.m. grew worse, and continued alternately better and worse up to half-past 12 a.m. on the sth, when he died. Mr. Cunningham, sworn, said he was practising as a medical man at Cambridge. Attended deceased. The jury returned a verdict of " Died from the effect of sucking lucifer matches-"
