AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
Tn accordance with advertisement, a meeting of subscribers to the Waikato Agricultural Show was held at the Puke of Cambridge Hotel, Cambridge, on "Wednesday last, at 2 p.m. Mr. James Uur.eiman was voled to the chair, and in opening the proceedings said that the object of the mooting was to decide what should be done with the surplus funds, and called upon the Secretary to read the report and balance sheet, which showed that, after paying prize-money and all expenses, there was £4(3 remaining in hand. After some conversation the Chairman stated that the Committee thought of expending the surplus funds in giving prizes for the culture of beet, growing crops of wheat, barley, oats, and linseed in the follov ing season. He also informed the j meeting that there was a likelihood of a Company I I cing formed for the purpose of erecting a sugar mill j if it could be shown that sugar beet could be laid ! down on the river banks at a reasonable rate. Mr. Pearson proposed that the surplus funds should remain in the hands of the Committee. The motion was carried unanimously, and the i meeting dissolved. J
