An influential meeting of merchants lias been held for the purpose of forming a "Freight Compan}'," in order to destroy the monopoly at present possessed by Messrs. Shaw, Savilje, and. Co. The operations of the Company are to be commenced immediately throughout the colony. A committee Has been formqd and preliminaries arranged. The following, gentlemen compose the committee ;— Dr. -Campbell,-• Messrei Von der Heyde, Clarke, C.fuikshank'. Daldyj Heather, Nathan, Isaacs,, and Walker.! ', < . .Mr. Auckland reports that prices for Dairy Cattle have advanced. Fat Cattle in pi enHful supply. Last week's rates fully sustained. •■■"'■ The number of Fat Sheep offered has been limited. Clsoice pens brought four-pence. Pigs in demand. ....... It is expected that Norman's case will be settled to-morrow. . There is no appearance of the '"Nebraska." The " Clyde " steamer has been wrecked at Lyttelton. ' .
