THE NORMAN CASE.
Ix attempting to settle the dispufe as to the ownership of the property left behind him by the late Mr. Edward Norm an, It has been necessary. for his relatives, to make extraordinary disclosures as to his life. "A series of affidavits have been, made- on one side to prove that the person known as Mrs. Norman, in Auckland, was the- wife of deceased; and on. the other side to prove that he was never married to her. Letters of administration were ordered to issue on the application of Mrs. Norman. Before they were prepared, a telegram was received from_a Mr. of Dunedin, to the effect that nobody in Auck» land was entitled taadminisier, and that Mrs. Norman lived in London and had six children.. Mrs Jane Martha Nonman; on the other hand, swears that the evidence of these two '-witnesses is false, and moreover swears that she was the lawful wife of Norman, that she was not in.Dunedin in 18G3 or, at.any other time, that in 1852' she went with' Nor man/to l-lngland and resided in Europe till 180(5/and that she joined JN'orman in JNew Zealand in 1800, having , .come oat by the ship Electric. She corroborates her statements by her London baziking-book, her passport, her fellow-passengers, her daughter's evidence, lisb of passengers, &c. It is altogether a . most mysterious aflPair, and we shall reserve our full report till the case is settled, which, as will be seen by our telegraphic intelligence, is likely to be to-day.
