SMUGGLING OF NATIVES
Sensational developments arc expected at Liverpool as a result of police investigations iuto the alleged smuggling of vouug West African natives ■ ntn England. For some time past the lulhorities have suspected that native clews on British vessels have assisted stowaways to reach Manchester, but a puzzling feature has been that every man landing at the docks lias produced :t legit linate passport. Curtain facts have now come to light which indicate connivance on the Gold Coast, and detective? are pursuing c; line of inquiry which is likely to lead t.o early developments in Liverpool. During the past twelve months the number of coloured men maintained by public fund in Liverpool indicates that smuggling stowaways into the port has been rampant.
