EUCHRE SOCIAL AND DANCE.

A very .successful euchre party was held in the Thornbury ball on the evening of the 19th in aid of the local Red Cross funds. Considering the inclemency of the weather a good number turned out. The takings resulted in the isnimi of £l2 6s 9di. There sat at the tables 76 players and several onlookers. The first prizes were won by Miss Balnearies and Mr A. Johnstone, and the booby prizes went to Mrs R. Fleck and Mr . Smith. The ladies first prize was kindly donated by Mr T. McNeill. A handsome sugar shuttle was donated by ivtrs A. Weir and was won. by Mr D. R. McFarlane in a guessing competition. During the evening a song was very sweetly rendered by Miss Dougin.. After supper .dancing was indulged in and kept up for some hours. Music was kindly supplied by several friends, including Misses Bain eanes and Nuttall (piano) Mrs Hillis (violin)' and Mr O. Sutton (flute). The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr Wohlers. The committee wish to thank all who donated, and helped to make the evening the success it was. In the report of last month’s social it was oiramitted to /mention that Mr Gilmour played! /several bigpipe selections.
