“PEG O’ MY HEART.”

Saturday next, August 3rd, will witness the ursi appearance here of J. and N. Tail’s original 'English Comedy Company, when A l ore’s Hail will be occupied by the charming young Irish Actress, Miss Sara Allgood, and the supporting company, in a presentation of the world-wide success, “ Peg o’ My Heart,” J. Hartley Manners’ great comedy oif youth. It is doubtful in the dramatic history of Australasia if ever a comedy has enjoyed such wonderful success, such as the sensational enthusiasm displayed toward “ Pe*r ” by play-goers throughout Australia and New Zealand. Produced at the' Palace Theatre, Sydney, last Easter the coanady ran for 112 performances, thus beating all previous records for spoken drama., it being withdrawn in the height of its success there to fulfil arranged dates in Ale!buorne. Transported to the King s Theatre, Alelbourne, it enjoyed; a run of 10 'weeks' -prior to taking up the New Zealand dates which had been hooked a. year previously before sue a sensational success had been thought possible in war time. On its return from New Zealand it withstood a revival season in Sydney lasting four weeks, the company leaving Sydney direct for Hobart on the completion of the! revival season at the Palace Theatre. The comedy was a tremendous success throughout Tasmania, and it is fully anticipated that it will meet with a. similar success again throughout N.Z. Miss Sara. Allgood, in the delightful role of “Peg,” has earned a big reputation everywhere she has appeared, her wonderful portrayal of the part causing critics to pronounce her the finest artist to have appeaed in Australasia, for a decade. Play-goers may be assured df the production in Riverton being on the same lavish scale as in the other centres of Australia. There is nothing sensational in the story of “Peg o’ Aly Heart ” and it is due to the delightful freshness and clean dialogue that “Peg’ 7 has enjoyed such wonderful success. As. little “Peg” from America, with a paternally acquired and delicious brogue, this delightful heroine goes to live with recently impoverished people at Scarborough. She thoroughly enjoys shocking these good people at every opportunity, and they only tolerate her because she brings with her a nice income. There 'is', of course, a. pretty love story, and a happy ending, and there is not a sigh in the play. “Peg” is likely to ■ stand out in the memories of all Riverton theatregoers as the most pleasant theatrical event of the year. The Box Plan is available at Air H. NAkhnrst’s, so patrons are requested! to book their seats and. sd avoid disappointment at the doors.
