One of the certain delights that pertain to summer is that dear, gentle, lovable, domestic pet, the household fly, .;, He is the growth of Jmature summer, -and reaches the perfection of his Charms in dogdays. * '■• flow constant he is 1 How faithful 1 It draws tears from the most hardened cynic's eyes to note his royal attendance upon;...our earliest wading hours; He does not wait for garish day to rouse us from our slumber but while yet the rosy dawn stands tiptoe on the shore of night to greet us, he pirouettes with our dreams. awhile, waltzes upon our nostrils, explores our ears, and lingers oh the threshold of our parted lips to let us know that the faithful one is near. He attends us all the day, and he supervises our food) suioides in onr milk—yet never drowns—bathes in our butter, consents to be hashed up with our hash, and fried in batMriahd yet he never yields his mortal bres.th. He is übiquitous, omnipotent, eternal. Age cannot wither him nor death destroy. What would Bummer be; without the huzzy, little household pet ? Heaven bless him, : *
