WARDEN’S COURT.
Thursday, 26th Feb. (Before Mr Warden Rawson). CLAIMS. Edward H. Bruce and nine others, for seabeach claim, ten men’s ground at peg, outlet of Round Hill Sludge Channel Co.’s main tail race, Wakapatu beach, terminating 1000 ft x 100 ft in south-easterly direction, along said beach.—Granted. Fung Lumb and Jong Quay, ordinary claim of two men’s ground, situate at Round Hill, next to corduroy, and in front of Evans and Leo’s store.—Mr Anderson for applicants.—Granted. Thomas Goldie and John France, tunnelling claim of two men’s ground, situate m Pleasant Creek, bounded on the south-west by Kong Pun and party’s claim, Round Hill, and on the south-east by Leo and party s claim.—Withdrawn. James Taylor and five others, sea-beach claim, five men’s ground, commencing at a pe°- at outlet of the Round Hill Sludge Co’s main tail race, Wakapatu beach, and terminating 500 ft in length by a width of 100 ft in north-westerly direction along said beach.—Withdrawn. . George Lee and others, ordinary sluicing claim of three men’s ground, situate at the lower end of applicants’ tail race and Evans tail bank, Round Hill.—Objected by Kong Fun and party.—Messrs Brodrick and Port for applicants, Mr Turton (of Queenstown) for objectors. Mr,Turton raised the objection that no notice had been served by applicants on objectors as provided under clause 178 of the Mines Act, and again that the applicants having pegged out the claim at 8 a.m. were not holders of the miners rights earmarked to the application until after 10 a.m. of the same day. Mr Brodrick objected that the objections were not U days of date of application ; (2) lhat the objections were not signed by objectors; (3) that the names of objectors were not in writing of objectors ; (4) that there was no proof of objectors holding miners rights. The Warden overruled Mr Brodrick s objections, contending that the question of 14 days applied to water races only He refused to amend the application and decided to take the evidence. Messrs Treseder.Tung Kie, Die On, T. Booth and J. Clarke were heard, and then the case was adjourned until Friday morning. On opening the Court, R. Stewart, Gee Ohing and Cong Yek were heard on behalf of the objeotors. Further argument was then raised, and finally His Worship decided to adjourn the case until Tuesday next, in order that a re-snrvey of the ground might be made. ■WATER RACES. James H. Young and Wm. Smith, commonolog about two chains from lowci end of a creek, near western corner of section 1, block 15, Longwood district, taking in another creek at bottom of terrace, and terminating at applicants’ claim.—Granted. Lavingfcou George Hoop©, commencing about 80 chains above high water mark on the Grindstone Creek, and terminating at the beach, Grindstone Creek, Orepuki.—Granted. DAM. Lavington George Roopo, dam-bank, at Grindstone Creek, Orepuki.—Granted. PROTECTION. Wong Woo, two months, for claim, at Round Hill.—Mr Anderson for applicant.— Granted.
