A reverend gentleman of Johnsonian aspect, minister of a parish near Edinburgh, was on the swither as to leaving the Establish* ment and joining Chalmers and Candlish. A meeting was held to endeavour to him and other* to join the dissentients. Argument (ailed, and at length Dr Candlish said, ‘Let us pray for our brother,’ whereon our switherer came out with ‘C< m ', come Candlish, none of your humbug,’ and left the room.
