Mis§ Walmsley, Nga Tawa, Marton, is spending the term holidays with Mrs H. Hobson, Hatuma. Mr and Mrs Dawkins, Otane, are spending the school vacation in the Opunake district. Mrs W. Marshall, of Waipukurau, is visiting her mother, Mrs E. Sim, Featherston. Miss Hastie, of the staff of the Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board, Waipukurau, has gone north on annual leave. Mr and Mrs Voss, who have resided at Otane for about 12 years, leave shortly to take up their residence at Ohura. Airs A. Gibbons and Mr G. Gibbons, Khandallah, Wellington, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. D. Todd, Mt. Herbert. Mrs Wallbank and Misses Olive and V era Wallbank, New Lynn, Auckland, are the guests of Mr and Mrs H. M. Tansley. Misses E. White, A. Searle, and S. Wedd, Otane, attended ' the basketball tournament in Gisborne. Miss White had been selected to play in the Hawke’s Bay team. Mr Graham Gbodger, who for several terms this year has been a student at a Wellington college specialising in wireless telegraphy, is at present on holiday in Waipukurau. Mr H. Duckworth, Jnr., formerly of Waipukurau, and now in business at Blenheim, is carrying out the duties of secretary to the “Come To Blenheim Week’’ carnival. The Wellington Colts Rugby touring team is to he met by the Mayor (Mr I. W. N. Mackie) on arriving in Waipukvrau on Tuesday afternoon by the express train. Tn the evening the players will be the guests of Mr F. A. Ganderton at the local talkies. The death occurred last evening at Christchurch of the Rev. George Lindsay, aged 87, a retired minister of the Presbyterian Church. He was minister at St. Paul’s. Invercargill, for 23 years until 1911, in which year he was Moderator of the General Assembly. Afterwards he was at St. Clair for two years and at Southbridge for five years. The death lias occurred at Wellington of the Rev. Father Stanislaus Mahoney. Born in London in 1866, Father Mahoney came to New Zealand with his parents. He was ordained a priest in ]B93 x subsequently working in Christchurch, Hokitika. Nelson and Wanganui. Ho was appointed parish priest at St. Alary of the Angels, Wellington, and had been there ever since. The death has occured at Morrinsville of Air William Clement Cargill, managing-director of the Cargill Publishing Company, which publishes the “ Aforrinsville. Star,’’ “Matama Record’’ and “Putaruru Press.” The deceased was formerly proprietor of the “Wairarapa Star.” “Patea Press’’ and “Pukekohe Times.’’ From 1928 to 1930 he was president, of the New Zealand Master Printers’ Federation. The deceased’ ’was in his 63rd year. He took part in many, leading educational and sporting activities.
