TE KURA DEFEATED A very enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Recreation Ground, Otane, on Saturday, when practically the whole of Te Kura settlement was present to witness the cricket match against Otane. i The local team was well supported by its lady friends, and were able to defeat the visitors by 169 runs to 85. Both teams batted 15 men. For Te Kura, Davis 30 and Lange 10, batted best, while Welsh 4 for 38, Samuels 3 for 33 and Davis 4 for 57, secured the bowling honours. For Otane Trevena 31, Curly 28, Drinkrow 29, Stephens 13 and R. Ashby 13. batted best and Trevena 3 for 0, Dell 2 for 1, Barrie 1 for 0, R. Ashby 2 for 4 and Acott 2 for 2, bowled best. It has been arranged for a return match to be played at Te Kura next Saturday. The local team entertained the visitors at afternoon tea.
