Welcomed To New Zealand BY THE PRIME MINISTER TRIBUTE TO NEW ZEALANDERS (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A formal welcome to the M.C.C. cricketers was given by the Rt. Hon. Geo. Forbes who entertained them to morning tea. Ministers and local M's.P. were present. The Prime Minister said that he was very grateful to the cricket authorities at Home for allowing such a fine team to visit New Zealand, and complimented the team on winning the “ashes” in Australia. In replying, Mr. Jardine (capt.) said that he took the welcome as a gesture to the Motherland, and said they would hand it on as such on their return to England The New Zealand team which visited England had created a very favourable impression. Mr. P. F. Warner, manager, said that New Zealand had made great strides in the world of cricket, and the prowess of the last team had been favourably commented on at Home.
