MURDEROUS INTENT?
Rifle Shots Fired at Car MISS DRIVER BY FRACTION ROBBERY BELIEVED MOTIVE (Per Press Association) WANGANUI. This Day. A sensation has been caused at Vpokongaroa by two ride shots having been fired at the car of J. Higgins, a well-known •settler, Who was returning from Parakino on the Wangamii River Road, shortly after midnight. on Saturday. The shots were fired at a bend near Pungarehu. Both passed through the windscreen, drilling holes about quarter of an inch apart and missing Higgins by a fraction of an inch. It is thought, that robbery was the motive, but that the high-way-man intended to get a Wanganui tradesman who is known to carry substantial sums of money and who passes along the road at all hours of the night.
