SITTING HELD TO-DAY BREACHES OF TRAFFIC RULES A sitting of the Waipukurau. Court was held this morning, Messrs G. E. Fowler I and E. .1. Turner, Justices of the Peace, presiding. William Henry Richards, Napier, charged with driving a. motor vehicle (a car) on the Waipukurau-Sanatorium highway at a speed which, having regard to all the circumstances of the case, might be dangerous to the public, appeared and pleaded guilty. The traffic, inspector said that, defendant. was driving at 49 miles an hour. There were children on the road. A fine of £l. with' costs 10s, was imposed. John Phillip Lewis. Palmerston North, similarly charged, forwarded a letter pleading not guilty. It was stated that defendant, was travelling at -17 miles an hour. When stopped he said that, if he were restricted to 35 miles an hour, he would never got through, his work. Defendant, was fined £2, with costs Ids. Maurice John O Prien. Palmerston North, charged with driving a heavy motor vehicle at an excessive speed, pleaded guilty.
