MUNICIPAL THEATRE

BIG MUSICAL COMEDY TO-MORROW AND SATURDAY The big musical comedy “Flying High/ ’ which will be shown at the Municipal Theatre to-morrow (Friday) and Saturday at 8 p.m., and a<so a special matinee on Saturday, at 2.30, is one of the most amusing musical comedies released. In Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, where this production has enjoyed extended seasons, it has left the audiences limp with laughter, the hilarity amounting in some scenes almost to hysteria. Directed by that master of comedy, Charles Reisner, producer of “Politics,” “Flying High” is an adaptation of the enormously successful Broadway stage musical comedy. The principal role of Rusty Krause is played by the same star who made such a hit in the original stage production. Bert Lahr. He is ably supported in a long succession of funny gags by long and lanky Charlotte Greenwood. This comedy bristles with tuneful numbers, including “It’s the First Timo for Me,” “Dance Until the Dawn,” and “Happy Landings.” The .first is by Do Sylva, Brown and Henderson, the last two by Dorothy Fields and James McHugh, who wrote “Go Home and Tell Your Mother.” Gorgeously beautiful girls, dozens of them, interpret the difficult dance evolutions, as developed by Busby Berkeley who presented 'the ■ dance ensembles in “Whoopee. ’’ The excellent supporting programme includes Sir Harry Lauder in his worldfamous song “I Love a Lassie.’’ A junior feature of special interest entitled “Fishermen’s Paradiso,” is the

pursuit of the giant Tuna of the Paci fie; “Benares of Hindu Heaven,” trevelogue; Metrotono News; and “Mickey the Mouse” Cartoon. This first-rate entertainment will be shown to-morrow (Friday) and Saturday at 8 p.m., with a special matinee on Saturday at 2.30 p.m. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY On Tuesday and Wednesday next: “Over the Hill.”
