PLOUGHING MATCH CLUB DAFFODIL SOCIETY DISBANDS (From Our Own Correspondent) A meeting of the Takapau Ploughing Match. Committee was held on Monday night, Mr W. Hobson presiding. Th secretary, Mr F. A. Thompson, submitted a financial statement which showed that the club had another successful match taking everything into consideration. Thanks were tendered to all those who had kindly assisted in making various competitions a success. Daffodil Society The Takapau Presbyterian Church Daffodil Society held its annual meeting on Monday afternoon in the vestry, the Rev. J. M. Eager presiding. After a friendly discussion it was decided to disband the society, and that the ladies concentrate their energies on the guild, to work on behalf of the Church, and that the meeting be extended for social work among the young. Personal Mr M. Steffes sen, of Takapau, who celebrated his eightieth birthday on Friday was in the employment of the N.Z. Railway Department for over 50 years. He has always identified himself with Church ap’d laudable objects, although at all times quiet and unobtrusive.
