RETURN TRIP

From Ottawa Conference MOVEMENTS OF HON J. G. COATES AND HIS COLLEAGUE (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Advice has been received by the Prime Minister, that the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates left Ottawa on Monday evening and will arrive in Vancouver (8.C.) on Friday and* at ’Frisco on Sunday, connecting with the Monowai and sailing thence on Wednesday. The Hon. W. Downie Stewart is leaving for New York to-day, where he will probably remain for ten days before proceeding to England. Mr. Forbes said that Mr. Stewart’s visit to New York had nothing to do with the suggestion of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce that Mr. Stewart, while in America, should endeavour to negotiate a tariff treaty with the United States, and added: “It is not the Government’s intention to enter into such negotiations. Mr. Stew-r art wished to consult a New Yoik specialist under whom he received tratment some years ago.’’
