A DECREASE SHOWN. THE POSITION REVIEWED. Uneployment registrations in Napier this week show a decrease of 47 when the figures are compared with those for the previous week, this position being due to the fact that more men have been employed under the No. 10 building scheme. There is a slight decrease in the numbers at Hastings, but in the country districts there is an increase of 18. In Napier there are 1162 men registered this week, compared with 1247 last week, when a total of 1993 men were placed on the No. 5 (scheme. Of the 1162, 825 were men with dependants fit for heavy work, 225 without dependants fit for heavy work, 57 with dependants fit for light work and 56 without dependants fit for light work. The number at Hastings this week is 102 3, against 102 7, of which 83 7 ] were placed on the scheme last week. The 1027 men made up of 804 fit for heavy work with dependants, 203 fit for heavy work without dependants, and 16 with dependants fit for light i work. i In the country districts there were | 841 men registered this week, while I last week there were 859. Of the 5 841 men, 636 were with dependants I and fit for heavy work, 151 without dependants and fit for heavy work, 50 were with dependants and fit for light work and 22 without dependants and fit for light work. ' Position in Central Hawke’s Bay I As compared with 101 names on ■ the Waipukurau list last week there ! are now 100 registered as unemployed. I In the case of Waipawa the respective figures are 52 and 49, thus conforming to the general decrease i shown throughout the urban areas.
