SHIELD GAME RESULTS

WEEK-END TOURNAMENT

Last Saturday the Club played six teams against Hastings in the second round of the District Shield games, going down badjy, losing 5 games out of the 'six, Nelson’s team being the, only rink to secure a win. The aggregate points were 135 to 99. The local teams had to be largely altered at the. last moment, which may perhaps account for their defeat. The following are tho results of games played in the District Shield competition by the Hastings BowlingClub on Saturday, Hastings names being mentioned first: — A GAINST W AIP UK UR AU At Hastings Hay, Diamond, Hogg, Kruse, 21; Jones, Gardner, Saunders, Moore 17. Frudc, Allison, Lowe, Yates, 30; Winter, Watson, Richards, Hall, 12. Fawcett, F. Smith, Johnston, Monk, 24; Duckworth, Cutforth, Burgess, Scott, 22. At Waipukurau Garnett, Taylor, Beeson, Smart, 19; Rood, Johnston, Murphy, Cook, 13. Sissons, Banks. Bates, G. McLeod, 23; Williams, Thorburn, Martin, Bryant, 15. Russell, Newton, J. Sutherland, Maddison, 18; Kemp, Bowen, White, Nelson, 20. Next Saturday the club play against Wairere 4 teams, Waipawa (1) and Kia Toa (1). The following teams have been selected: —■ To travel to Wairere —Bowen, White. Cook, Hall (s); Turner, Thorburn, Bryant, Nelson (s). To travel to Waipawa —Duckworth sc-nr., Petherick, Martin, Lourie (s). At home against Wairere—Cowper. Saunders, Murphy, ,Moore (s); Gardner, Major, Scott, Haldane (s).

At home against Kia Toa —Johnston. Brown, Burgess, Richards (s). Now that more settled weather appears likely, it behoves all players to get in as much practice as possible, so as to enable the selector to have a better chance of picking the players in
