Theft of Lodge Funds

A CLERK PLEADS GUILTY. MONEY CONVERTED TO OWN USE. (Press Association) AUCKLAND, Friday. Two charges of stealing a total of £3O belonging to the Auckland, City Lodge of the Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes were admitted at the Police Court by Charles Gordon Lindsay, a clerk, aged 34. Chief-Detective Hammond said. Lindsay had been acting as secretary and had collected the money, which lie converted to his own use. He z had never been in trouble previously. Counsel said Lindsay, who was married, had been out of; work for some time. No doubt this led to his taking the funds. It was a case for probation. The Magistrate, Mr Hunt, remanded I accused until to-morrow for sentence, for the purpose of obtaining a report from the probation officer.
