YOUTH KILLED.

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. George Jonathan Jine, aged 19,
died in the Christchurch Hospital at noon to-day as the result of ter-
rible injuries received in a collision between a motor-cycle he was riding and a motor truck on the Biccarton road this morning. r Pine was riding on a piece of road bitumen-paved facing the rays of the morning sun. As he was passing W. J. Bowman’s yard, a motor truck, driven by R. Giles, came out on the road. The motor-cycle hit the truck with a terrific crash. The motor-cycle petrol tank burst and the petrol fired enveloping Pine, his motor-cycle, and the bonnet of the truck in flames.
Pine was dragged from the burning truck with his clothing afire and terribly burned. He was rushed to the hospital, but he lived only a few hours.
Pine was the son of the well-known horse trainer, Gteorge J. Pine.
MISSING STATION HAND FOUND ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, June E 5. The body of a station hand, George Campbell, aged 65, who had been missing for a week on the Huirua station, was found by a search party lying near his horse hitched to a tree. Deceased had apparently alighted and feeling ill had covered himself with his coat. SAFE BLOWN OPEN. BURGLARS IN AUCKLAND. (Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 25. Burglars entered the Auckland Meat Company’s shop in Karangahape road in the early morning and blew open a safe, securing about £3O. Evidently it was the work of experienced operators. Neighbours heard an explosion at about 12.40 a.m.
CAUGHT IN THE ACT.
STOLEN RADIATOR CAPS.
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 26.
A detective walking along Taranaki street last night saw a man take the radiator cap from an unattended car. He accosted him and, found in his possession three motor meters and five radiator caps. The man, William Morrison, a seaman on the Canadian Challenger, to-day pleaded guilty. In reply to the Magistrate the chief detective said Morrision would get a market for the articles. They were very hard to identify and the police had lots of complaints. A fine of £5 was imposed, in default a month’s imprisonment.
