TAXI VERSUS COUNCIL.
ItEITER TO WAIPUKURAU COUNCIL FROM SOLICITOR. CLAIM OF REFUND OF FEES. A, H. White, solicitor, Waipukurau wrote to the County Council on Saturday stating that he had been instructed by taxi drivers to act in then claims for refunds of license fees, the amount in ■-'.’ach case being £3. The application for refund had been made on the ground that the, taxi drivers dH not use. the county roads. “I should be glad if you would kinaly ask your Council, to 1.4 me know definitely whether it will refund tile amounts claimed or not and I can then go .nto the matter with my clients as to the action they should take,” Cr. Kibblewhite: These taxis say they do not use our roads, but I me', one of them out by' my place this morning.
Tho Chairman (Mr A, C. Russell) sa.d that at the forthcoming county conference something • would crop up regarding these licenses. He thought th.,? matter should be held over pending the result of the conference. This was agreed tq,
