Paul Ropiha (Porangahau) 11.1. Both lads stripped well, the Maori having the advantage in height, weight, and reach, but lacking the solidity of his adversary. Beth slogged in at’ the start, but Stevens drove the to the ropes, where the Porangahau boy exhibited a good defence. However, Stevens connected solidly attims,. and got the vcrd’V-. • Heavy-Weight. Bert Johnson (Waipukurau) 13.7, v. Hughic Lawton (Hastings), 11,11. Johnson towered over the Hastings boy like a Collusus. At the start he tore in with mighty swings, but used more head than iuhis last sinnex at the Maori. He missed on fewer occasions and some of- his connections were terrific wallops. There was some bad missing, however and a hunijorous vein pervaded the whole bout.' The verdict went to the Waipukurau boy.
