Religious Instruction.
Lomu n, Ap l i 1 27. Messrs 0. A. Julius and E. Thorne, Queet sla» d.,rs. have participated in the discussion evoked by the publication of an alleged interview, in which an unnamed Australian AgentGeneral urged Englishmen not to adopt the Education B>ll, and stating that a similar experiment had been tried in Australis with the result that the schools had become antiChristian. Mr Julius denounces the statement as a Gander.
Mr Thorne asserts that the AgentGeneral interviewed sp L ke the words in soberness and truth.
There is much indignation in colonial circles, and the impression is that the confidential conversation of some Agent-General has been abused.
The Daily Mail has published a contributed article alleging that secular education has caused a great increase of crime in Victoria, and the results in Australia are deplorable and absolutely shocking.
