THE CUP MATCHES. WOODVILLE V. PAHIATUA. The cricketers were favored with glorious weather for the Cup contest at Pahiatua on Saturday. Unfortunately the match was rather a onesided one by reason of the Woodville team being a very scratch one. However the game was very enjoyable, and there is no doubt but that the best team won. Pahiatua batted first, and scored 80 runs, Dr Gault's 29 being a very acceptable contribution. Pahiatua's second innings closed for 82, Brittland being top scorer with 19. The Woodville innings closed for 58 each. In the first innings Cato was top with 16, and in the second Wilson was top with 28. For Woodville Bagley and Cato were the most successful bowlers, and Griffiths, Gault, Reeve, and Chatwin for Pahiatua. Following are the scores ; Pahiatua —Ist Innings. On Saturday the boys of the Campbell Street School (Palmerston) visit§d Woodville to play a match against the local boys. The Woodville bovs batted first and scored 28 (D. Grieg 9). The Palmerston boys then batted, and scored 29 (H. Wood 7). In their second innings Woodville scored only 14, leaving Palmerston 14 to make to win, which they did with a loss of 4 wickets. Lunch was provided in the Drill Shed by the Woodville boys.
